“Opt out” and Pay up: Compromise not in Reid’s vocabulary
Senator Harry Reid (D-Nevada) once again is playing the word game, this time with the public option and “opting out” of government ran health care. Reid has proposed what he calls a “compromise” in the public option debate, whereby States can “opt out” of the government option, leaving their citizens with private options alone. Sounds great on the surface, right? Well, here is what Reid is not telling you about the “opt out” provision, you still have to pay for it. Does the word subsidy come in mind? The State of Texas “opting out” of the public option would simply mean that the citizens of Texas could not use the public option, paying for it is another story. Reid’s “opt out” provision still requires every U.S. citizen to pay for the public option, so you get nothing for your money. Congratulations Texas, you will be subsidizing health care for free-loaders in New England and around the country. I can take a shit in a box and mark it guaranteed but all your getting is a guaranteed piece of shit, Senator Reid.
