Government spending gone wild.

Posted by 1776blog on December 26, 2009

It amazes me that our Federal Government thinks itself so important that, even in times of utter failure, they issue statements  ”reassuring the public” , “addressing the problem swiftly” and espousing their belief in the wonderment and majesty of themselves and their Leviathan.

The foiled terrorist attack of a Northwest  flight from Lagos to Detroit has brought out the PR machine of the Obama Administration and the “we are doing everything we can to keep the American people safe” quotes.  While the bomber was not screened on American soil, the story got me thinking about what our government is not spending money on.

While, we, the taxpayers are supporting such wonderful, “job creating” programs as building garages in Portland, Oregon for personal bicycles, additional  money is not being spent on security here at home.  It seems the Obama administration walks the same line as left wing lunatics that believe Al Qaeda and terrorists are not a real threat (hell, according to some they are simply helping to tear down the evil capitalists and their damn liberty).

I digress.  Let’s take a look at what we are spending money on and what we are not spending money on.

We are:

Spending $11 million to build a bridge in Redmond, Washington to connect two adjacent Microsoft buildings to each other.

We are not:

Increasing funding of any sort to customs and border patrol.

We are:

Spending $2 million on Swine odor research in Iowa.

We are not:

Increasing training or funding to the Transportation Safety Administration.

We are:

Spending $1.15 million to install guard rails around a lake that no longer exists .

We are not:

Spending money on new technology that could better detect terrorists, bombs and incendiary devices remotely.

We are:

Leaving  future generations to deal with our debt while not enduring that there will be any future generations around to worry about the debt.

Our government needs to wake up.  Oner of these days a bomb will go off, in an airplane, a building, a stadium, times square, and our government will continue to spend money on lobbyist dreams and politicians reelection campaigns, all the while ignoring our security here at home.

In their own words: Quotes from the Founding generation, Part III

Quotes from the Founding generation, Part III: Religion and Government

While many think of our founding as secular in origin and in action, history tells a different tale.  A separation of church and state does not imply “without god” but rather not my god over your god.  Many of the founding fathers were freemason’s and their belief in god was absolute and unwavering, others were equally passionate about religion.  Many politicians and historians with biased motivations label them Diest’s, and while this is true (they believe in a supreme creator of the universe), many were also religious and more specifically, Christian.  This is not the opinion of some right wing Christian attempting to proselytize and claim America as a Christian nation, I was raised Jewish, I am not a Christian but I do believe the morality and intentions of the founders were rooted in Judeo-Christian tradition.

So, lets take a look at what the Founding Generation thought about religion…In their own words.

George Washington-

“It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible.”

John Adams-

“Statesmen may plan and speculate for Liberty, but it is Religion and Morality alone, which can establish the Principles upon which Freedom can securely stand.”

Thomas Jefferson-

“Religion, as well as reason, confirms the soundness of those principles on which our government has been founded and its rights asserted.”

Benjamin Franklin-

“ God governs in the affairs of man. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid?”

James Madison-

“We have staked the whole future of American civilization, not upon the power of government, far from it. We’ve staked the future of all our political institutions upon our capacity…to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.”

Alexander Hamilton-

“For my own part, I sincerely esteem it [the Constitution] a system which without the finger of God, never could have been suggested and agreed upon by such a diversity of interests.”

Copenhagen Climate Summit: Rules for the us not for them

Posted by 1776blog on December 8, 2009

The Copenhagen Climate Summit is currently under way; On the agenda: 9:00 a.m. weakening the American Empire, 12:00 p.m. Strengthening Nations (America not included), 1:00 p.m. How to destroy  industry with the stroke of a pen, and 2:30 p.m. Exercises in killing jobs.

The Copenhagen Climate Summit is an attempt by the Anti-American United Nations and the Anti-American Obama administration to weaken American industry and our economy while propping up other less prosperous and less successful nations.  The joke of this whole show, and thats what this is, a show, is the absolute audacity of the “leaders” involved.  It has been reported (on Fox News and CNN) that over 1200 limousines are being used to shuttle the VIPs around.  It gets better; When asked why Hybrid cars were not being used, the director of the Danish Limo company leasing the limousines for the event said “The government has some alternative fuel cars but the rest will be petrol or diesel. We don’t have any hybrids in Denmark, unfortunately, due to the extreme taxes on those cars.”  HA HA HA HA.  Stop the presses!  Socialist Denmark’s taxes are so high that the “green” nation has prevented the public from getting affordable hybrids.  Liberals and their screwed up, self centered righteousness.  What a joke.

Oh yea, and over 140 private jets have been used to bring the VIPs to Copenhagen.

Change we are definitely paying for!

Quotes from the Founding generation, Part II: Guns, Guns, Guns

George Mason-

“To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them.”

Thomas Jefferson-

(1)    ”Those who hammer their guns into plowshares will plow for those who do not.”

(2)    ”No freeman shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.”

Richard Henry Lee- (first to formally propose independence from Great Britain, signer of Declaration of Independence)

“To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them.”

Patrick Henry-

“Are we at last brought to such humiliating and debasing degradation, that we cannot be trusted with arms for our defense? Where is the difference between having our arms in possession and under our direction and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal safety to us, as in our own hands?”

George Washington-

“Firearms stand next in importance to the constitution itself. They are the American people’s liberty teeth and keystone under independence … from the hour the Pilgrims landed to the present day, events, occurences and tendencies prove that to ensure peace security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable … the very atmosphere of firearms anywhere restrains evil interference — they deserve a place of honor with all that’s good.”

Thomas Payne-

“Arms like laws discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe and preserve order in the world as well as property.”

Alexander Hamilton-

“The Constitution shall never be construed to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms.”
